Description

German Safety Matchboxes – 'Haushaltsware' – Post-War 1950s (Price: 30 Pfennig)A set of original German 'Haushaltsware' safety matchboxes, produced in the post-war 1950s, identifiable by the printed retail price of 30 Pfennig. This detail is significant: during the Third Reich era, consumer prices were typically expressed in Reichspfennig, whereas after 1948 the new Deutsche Mark (DM) and Pfennig (Pf) units came into use. This makes the boxes clearly post-1948, despite the traditional-style eagle often still used in early post-war packaging. Each box is marked:•'Haushaltsware'•'Sicherheits-Zündhölzer – imprägniert / glühen nicht nach'•'Preis 30 Pf.'•Manufacturer markings consistent with the early Bundesrepublik periodThe design and typography follow late-war and immediate post-war production, which is typical for manufacturers reusing pre-war printing blocks in the early 1950s.Condition:Very good overall condition with crisp labels and lightly aged cardboard. Ideal for collectors of German household goods, packaging history, or early Bundesrepublik-era memorabilia.Period: Post-war, early to mid-1950sMaterial: Cardboard & wood matches5 euro per box!
