Description
Original era manufacture. Polished steel socket bayonet with a 19 inch blade. Very unusal mounting mechanisim on the bottom of the socket called the Kyhl spring catch (Kiesling Page 116). Captured during the 1848 rebellion and later issued to the Danish troops. Unit marked on the socket tube, SH IV J.C. B. 23, 4th Slesvig-Holstein Jager Corps, B Company, 23rd weapon. Very odd bayonet. Shows normal age and wear with dark patches to the steel surface.
