WW1 Hereford VAD Red Cross Armband

Available
£60.00

Description

A WW1 regulation pattern Army Medical Service /Voluntary Aid armband. The white cotton band is the early narrow type as later variants were much wider, another good indication of being early manufacture is by having the 3 x mother of pearl type button fasteners, the red felt cross has been attached to the band and not printed, does show signs of light service wear. The large Army Medical Service ink stamp is as bold as the day it was applied, the other roundel ink stamp is well faded almost indiscernible but does read ''Hereford Voluntary Aid'' (Detachment) .The red dye from the cross has bled onto the white band due to being laundered many times when in service, a small area of stitching has undone to one top corner of cross (best to mention).**UK sale only**
