Description

Original era photography. Five, sepia tone photographs, hardmounted, measuring each 4x5 inches on a 5x6 mount. Each is identified as to content on their reverse, 'Spending Sunday among the rocks', 'Fort Grant Hospital', 'Guard Mount', 'Saber Drill' and 'Tossing a soldier in a blanket'. Photographs date from around 1890-1905 with good content but with some fading. Fort Grant was the final name and location for an assortment of posts and camps established in the general area, some dating back prior to the Civil War. Established in 1872, it was an important base of operations during the Apache Wars of the 1880's in the Arizona Territory, it was closed in 1905.
