A neatly cast silver cap badge, with King's crown over circlet inscribed, 'First P.W.O. Sikhs', Prince of Wales's feathers to the centre, with a scroll beneath bearing the unit title, '12th Frontier Force Regt'. Worn circa 1922 - 1945. Two original loops. Circa 30mm tall. In super condition, dark blue backing cloth added for display. Cloth looks old.The 12th Frontier Force Regiment was formed in 1922 drawing on elements of the Punjab Irregular Force. It comprised of four regular battalions drawn from Sikh regiments and a fifth regular battalion and a 10th (training) battalion formed from the two infantry battalions of the Corps of Guides. The 1st Battalion was named, 1st Battalion (Prince of Wales' Own Sikhs). Further battalions were raised during World War Two (1939-1945).
