1916 Dated Imperial German Model M1898/05 Butcher Blade Bayonet by Simson & Company

The blade shows typical spots, stains and surface dirt, but it is without nicks, chips or active rust. The ricasso bears the firm name of Simson & Company. The spine has the date of '16'. The bayonet is the model with a flash guard on the grip spine and with the vestigial 'ears' of the muzzle ring. The wood grip plates show age and patina, as well as pock marks from carrying wear, but they are without chips or cracks. The guard and the pommel show age but retain original finish. The guard has a numeric marking which appears to be '8235'. The pommel bears the marking of 'WZ88'. The scabbard shows age, but the finish is largely intact. The rear scabbard throat has an indistinct number. Overall the bayonet is in good field used condition.
