Description

WW1 1914-15 Trio along with the recipients sword. All housed in a large glazed mahogany case.To- 1262.PTE.H.R.MANSERGH.L.POOL.R (Star)& LIEUT.H.R.MANSERGH (Pair)Harry Read Mansergh from Bootle, Liverpool first landed in France 24-2-1915 serving with the 6th battalion of the Liverpool Regiment. He was commissioned in the field just two weeks after arriving in France & went on to serve with the 9th battalion. He was mortally wounded in action 18-9-1916 which resulted in the amputation of both his legs & he sadly died of wounds in France & Flanders 12-11-1916. He was 25 years of age at the time of his death & he is buried in Etaples military cemetery. The CWGC state that he was the late son of T.R.Mansergh of Tinto lodge, Breeze Hill, Bootle, Liverpool, He was educated at merchant taylors school, Crosby, Lancs & was studying to become a dentist when war broke out.The medals are GVF or better & the sword is engraved with the recipients initials on the back of the blade.THIS ITEM MUST BE COLLECTED FROM THE SHOP OR AT A FAIR.
