EVII I.G.S 1908 With North West Frontier 1908 ClaspTo- LIEUT.R.RAINSFORD-HANNAY.45th.SIKHSRamsay Rainsford Hannay was born 1884 & was the son of colonel R.W.Rainsford Hannay of Creetown, Kircudbrightshire. He was commissioned in to the Indian army in 1904 and was serving as a major with the 45th Rattrays Sikhs in Mesopotamia when he was K.I.A leading B-Company in the attack at Shatt-El-Hai 1-12-1917. He had already led two bombing parties against the Turks but was sadly killed on his third attempt whilst moving forward to the bank feature,. He went on to be posthumously M.I.D for his actions & is commemorated on the Basra memorial.GVF or better and complete with research details thar include copy images of the recipient and other military & biographical details.
