M35 army (Heer) ex-double decal 'overpaint' steel helmet Q64 named

Sold
€800.00

Description

Early produced M35 army steel helmet in good condition. The helmet started as an apple green coated double decal helmet in 1939 but was overpainted with dark field green camouflage paint due regulations most likely in 1940 before the invasion of Western Europe. Therefore the decals are covered, but still present under the paint. Inside the helmet remains the original liner, being an early example with reinforced aluminum band, dated 1939. The leather shows normal wear, and some tips of the tongues show small damages. Shell markings Q64 -1811. Soldiers name 'Velm' painted in the rear.
