Original British WW1 MKI Harrington & Richardson 37mm Shoulder Fired Flare Gun

A rare and extremely well preserved example. American contract to the British Government. 37mm Flare, 10 1/2' barrel with a very fine bore. The metal surfaces of this interesting flare gun retain about 94% original blue showing only a few light handling marks. The barrel shows strong H&R address and patent marks along with scattered small British broad arrow and inspector proofs on the various metal components. The smooth pistolgrip walnut buttstock remains in very good condition retaining strong oiled finish . The red rubber butt pad shows moderate wear consummate with age. Working condition to function. A fine and seldom seen flare gun for the martial collector. There were made and issued for use during WW1 with the majority seeing later service with local constabulary riot squads well after WW2.
