A very rare original Second World War period 'J A Phillips & Co Ltd Smethwick air raid warden badge'; large circular chromium plated example inlaid with black and green enamel displaying the companies advertising logo, the reverse impressed with maker's details 'Thomas Fattorini Ltd Regent St Birmingham'. Very good condition, complete with original buttonhole lapel fitting, enamel perfect. Diameter approx 35mm.During the Second World War J A Phillips & Co Ltd Smethwick turned their attention to munitions work, producing vast quantities of shells, grenades, land mines, aircraft parts and bicycles for the military, in particularly the Mk.V Military Roadster cycles.
