M42 Helmet - Assault Gun Brigade 286

An M42 combat helmet with the red and white Maltese Cross insignia of German army Assault Gun Brigade 286 painted on the front. Shell is painted dark green inside and out, with normal age wear. Small slits have been cut into both sides of the skirt and the crown, probably to accommodate a carrying strap or frame. Lot number 4264 stamped into rear inner skirt, along with maker and size stamp hkp64. Dark hide liner intact. No chinstrap but bales are present.
