Description

British 1939 pattern MKIV EA Respirator as used by the British Expeditionary Force (BEF) in France in 1939 and 1940. This pattern of gas mask was introduced in October 1939. This led to the EA version of the MKIV respirator which features a distinctive extra, smaller sized canister which is fitted between the facepiece and the main canister. These type of respirators were widely used early war in France between 1939 and 1940. Many captured on picture for instance pictures of discarded examples on the beaches of Dunkirk. The respirator is clearly 1939 dated, the filter is also 1939 dated. The respirator comes with original carrier case. Interesting are the chromed hooks indicating this being an early war produced carrier. Both respirator and carrier are in overall nice used condition.
