Description
Original KABA Plantagengetrank aluminum container in decent condition. The tin is a little dirty and darkened from age but still a fairly nice example. This is essentially the German version of Nesquick although it sounds better as it is banana and chocolate. They do still make this so the next time I am over there I will have to try some. It was introduced in 1929.There wasn't much to go off of to date this but I originally picked it up as it looked original and the context of where I found it seemed to point to it being war time or pre war. After a fair amount of looking, I do believe this is war time or prewar. The company was shut down from 1943-49. This was found in former East Germany with other 1930's tins and its from Bremen which is in the west so the odds of it being post war diminish a lot. The graphics (oasis with palm trees) appear on the earliest packaging, but is typically only alluded to at best in the post war packaging with the oasis turning into a sun or solid circle behind the trees. What I can say is that, after far too much time spent researching, this might be the only known remaining example of this tin. I found nothing even remotely like it anywhere, not even in the line up of historical packages in a museum.
