Partially restored mid war Waffen-SS contract black Panzer wrap for an SS-OberscharfĂŒhrer in 2. SS-Panzerdivision Das Reich, consignor reports that shoulder straps, sleeve band and EKII ribbon are original to the wrap, that the collar patches were found in the pocket and subsequently restored and that the sleeve eagle was absent but also restored; the base wrap itself is a rarer mid war manufactured wrap constructed of earlier materials and having the characteristics of those types: the earlier production wool, ribbed cotton lining and more pointed collar and lapel tips, the differences are evident when compared to the more commonly encountered later war examples; the pointed open collar has a large steel hook and eye, there were four large black composite front closure buttons (one is missing), smaller conically shaped composite buttons are used to close the lapel and buttoning tabs, slightly larger versions of the conical buttons are used to close the cuffs, lining panels are of black cotton, the single internal pocket, belt hook support straps, tie tape tunnels, hanging loop and buttoning closure tabs are also made of black ribbed cotton, the waist ties are of grey colored HBT tape, the left upper chest has faint white ink size stampings, the hand embroidered aluminum wire runic and rank collar patches were restored via machine straight stitch, the rank tab has two large silver finished zinc rank pips, the matched pair of slip on shoulder straps have machine applied metallic NCO Tresse and rosa colored rayon piping, each has an aluminum rank pip with flat brass prongs, the shoulder strap bridles are factory installed, the shoulder straps buttons are field grey painted pebbled zinc, the machine woven SS sleeve eagle is restored through machine zig zag stitching and this is very well done, the rare woven Das Reich sleeve band has celleon lettering and borders, it is hand sewn with black cotton thread, the EKII ribbon sewn using black cotton thread along its borders, there are three sets of original badge loops and attached to them are a bronze Nahkampfspange by C.E. Juncker, a stamped silver Panzer Assault Badge and a Black Wound Badge, there is moderate nap wear but there are no actual holes or repairs, very few examples produced during this period are known to exist today, USD $25,000
