Description
Well worn M35 steel helmet. Started as a M35 double decal army example, in apple green color. Was overpainted in rough field green paint per 1940 regulations, covering (at least one) the decals. The inside rim was also painted in this similar sand mixed rough paint, even leaving traces on the aluminum liner band, so you know the liner never left the helmet! Afterwards the helmet was painted in white for a winter offensive. After the offensive, it was painted grey again. Than you add some more combat and wear, and this is how the helmet looks today. The dome of the helmet, under the liner, still shows the basic apple green color. Inside shows the original liner, size marked 54, dated 1938. Leather remains supple and strong. Draw string is a shoe string. Shell markings not visible due to the thick paint, but most likely a ET62 helmet. Nicely named to Unteroffizier 'Uffz.' Trautmann.
