1899 New York Society of Colonial Wars Spanish American War Veterans Collins Legitimus Knife

Available
$1850.00

Description

The knife has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 18-1/4 inches long, with a blade length of approximately 12 inches. The blade shows spots and areas of grime and surface rust. The ricasso is extensively marked by Collins and company, including the 'Legitimus' mark and a number. The heavy, decorated brass grip shows an uncleaned patina. The leather sheath bears a relief commemorative dedication, indicating that the knife was a presentation by the New York society of Colonial Wars to its members who had served in the Spanish American War in 1899. The sheath shows age, but it is complete and intact.
