Description

This is an outstanding and very early example of a National Socialist Motor Corps (NSKK) brownshirt, dating from the pre-RZM period and originating from the transitional phase when the NSKK evolved out of the SA-Motor organisation. The shirt is constructed from correct early brown cotton cloth and shows light, honest wear with some mild discoloration consistent with period use, while remaining in overall very good condition. The black-and-white piped collar edging and shoulder cord are characteristic features of the NSKK and clearly distinguish this shirt from a standard SA brownshirt. All insignia are originally applied and display matching age, wear, and a pleasing natural patina. The collar tabs are in emerald green, a color associated with NSKK units within the Sachsen and Nordmark districts. One collar tab bears the unit designation '13/12', referring to a specific Motorstandarte and Motorsturm within the regional NSKK structure. The opposing collar tab is fitted with two metal pips, indicating an NCO-level rank consistent with early NSKK regulations. The shoulder strap is present and correctly attached. The left breast features sewn medal loops, suggesting the former wear of an Iron Cross 1st Class from the First World War. This is strongly supported by the original ribbon bar mounted above, which remains intact and is believed to represent the Iron Cross 2nd Class (1914), a Bavarian long service award with swords, and a First World War commemorative medal. This award combination points to a First World War veteran who later joined the early motorized political formations and continued service within the NSKK. The ribbon bar and its devices are original to the shirt and show an attractive, untouched patina. All buttons are present, and the shirt shows no damage. This early NSKK brownshirt is a highly coherent and well-preserved example from the formative years of the organisation. Pre-RZM NSKK shirts with original insignia, clear regional attribution, and complete award configuration are increasingly scarce. A superb piece for an advanced early political or NSKK-focused collection and an excellent candidate for a historically accurate mannequin display.
