Description
US Krag Jorgensen Bayonet Dated 1901-This is the model 1892 style that was made for the Springfield Model 1892–99 Krag-Jørgensen rifles, some of which were still in use during WWII. This model has become a very desirable knife to own. This is a sword-style bayonet. There is a heavy steel crossguard, pommel and two steel rivets that hold the wooden grip plates to the tang. The guard includes a ring opening on one end that goes over the barrel when attached to a rifle. The metal pommel has a spring-loaded press catch for locking onto the lug of a rifle. This mortise button works correctly. The hilt fittings have lost all of their original finish and have some light rust. The 2ndpattern steel scabbard has lost some finish but still shows very nice bluing but still has a great look. The ball tip remains undented. The swivel steel belt loop is still in place on the back of the scabbard. The steel blade measures 11 ½ inches (30 cm) with a deep fuller. The blade is marked US on the obverse and has the date of 1901 on the reverse. This is a bayonet that means business and it would look great on the wall.Online checkout is not supported for edged weapons. Please note that some items are listed as 'SOLD OUT' for this reason.
