Model 1878 U.S. Army Indian Wars Canteen with Leather Shoulder Strap

The canteen shows some spots, stains and signs of use, with the canvas cover having several small holes on the reverse side, with visible underlying rust. There are a few small separations of the stitching on the side seams. Both of the triangular shoulder strap bales are present. The cork stopper is largely intact, and the stopper retention chain is present and complete. The canteen retains a full leather shoulder strap which exhibits age but which is supple and complete. The leather strap is marked to the Rock Island Arsenal, with the inspector initials of 'H.E.K.'. Overall good field used condition.
