Third Reich Hitler Youth knife-Herder

What can only have been a very early salesman's sample or prototype of the iconic HJ knife, having a metallic, circular, Herder advertising emblem perfectly inset into the obverse Bakelite grip in lieu of the standard HJ diamond. Grips are in perfect condition being secured by rivets which are domed on the obverse. No damage to the pommel or crossguard. A black leather washer remains in place beneath the crossguard. Blade is the early type having no ricasso or motto to the blade, but has 'RICHARD.ABR. HERDER SOLINGEN' stamped along the reverse. Scabbard is in fine condition without damage, retaining virtually all of its black finish. A fine quality belt loop and grip strap is riveted to the scabbard. This assembly is of the earliest construction and quality, and remains in perfect condition.Marvellous addition for the HJ collector.
