WW1 German Gas Mask Named 'Busch' Complete With Original Carrying Straps & Schnappdeckel Smoke/Arsenic Filter

Available
£645.00

Description

One of the best examples of the WW1 German gas mask we have had for a while this the Model 17 with ' spider' reinforcement to eyepieces & also the rare additional 'Schnappdeckel ' smoke /arsenic filter clipped onto the bottom. These were introduced in May 1918 however not many seem to have survived.Upon the lid of the carrying tin can be seen the remains of unit markings with oil impregnated facepiece of the mask intended to prevent the penetration of gas. The often missing front adjustment strings are still present. Filter is dated June 1918 with '11-c-11' marking. High proportion of its grey green paint finish remaining.Carrying tin has both its original long & short straps one with soldiers name 'Busch' . Much green paint remaining to outside of tin & factory japanned black to interior. Three packets of spare lenses to compartment.
