Original era manufacture. Brass handled bayonet with a double edged blade measuring 450mm, or 17.75 inches in length. The blade presents a darkened steel finish with scattered areas of corrosion pitting and a slightly rounded point. Cast brass hilt with a very dark patina and a working lock mechanism. According to Kiesling, these were intended for the Model 1844, 1848 and 1857 Bersagliere Carbine and the 1844 Artillery Rifle.
