Description

Heer M40 single decal tan sand camouflaged helmet, shell stamped EF62, the readable portion of the lot number may read 149, the steel liner bands, pins and washers have not been altered, except for darkened remnants along the edges, the leather liner has been removed and the helmet's condition suggests that it was removed from a soldier killed in action, only stubs of the original chinstrap remain, the inner dome is penciled with the initials FR, the factory green paint was overpainted externally and to the inner skirt in a tan camouflage paint mixed with fine sand, the Heer decal was covered and, in areas were it has flaked, the paint is absent, the rim edges are worn and there are spots to the top where paint is missing and these areas show rust, overall camo coverage rates better than 90%, the helmet pins are quite tight and each pin has a high degree of camo paint, helmet was purchased from the son of a U.S. veteran that was said to have served in North Africa under U.S. General Patton, very appealing, USD $3000
