WWII USAAF 8thAir Force Uniform Grouping-This is for an 8thAir Force staff sergeant and includes a service uniform, a undershirt and a pair of trousers. The service tunic is produced in an OD wool that is in very good condition, with very minor wear, minor discoloration and a tiny moth nip in the left breast pocket. There is a four button closure and all buttons are gilt finished in the military style. There are four pockets with straight flaps. The breast pockets are plain and the lower pockets are internal. The right lapel has the US collar disc while the left side has the winged propeller of the USAAF. The left sleeve has an embroidered 8thAir Force shoulder patch, a staff sergeant patch and 3 gold bars for 18 months of overseas service. The right side has another staff sergeant insignia. There are sterling silver wings for an aerial gunner. There is a ribbon bar which has the Distinguished Flying Cross ribbon to go along with the Good Conduct and the EAME with two stars. The interior is partially lined in golden brown cotton. The tunic is stamped with the size 38S. The trousers are produced in a very similar type of wool. They are also in very good condition. They are pleated and have both hip and rear pockets. There is a four button fly with an additional button at the waist. The waist is a size 28 and these are 38' in length. These are named a few times inside. The name is S Switak and the last four numbers of his ASN are 7483. Finally, there is a heavy cotton shirt that is light tan in color. It has a pair of pockets with straight flaps. There is a six button closure. It has staff sergeant insignia on each sleeve plus a USAAF patch on the left shoulder. There is a set of miniature sterling silver wings for an aerial gunner.A great set!
