Description

You are bidding on a SUPERB and UNISSUED example of a WW2 German Luftwaffe AK39 Armkompaß (Wrist Compass), Fl. 23235, as used by various German pilots and crew members! The AK39 Wrist Compass was designed for wear by pilots and crew for correctly calculating their position if forced to bail out or after a crash.Though it was designed to be worn on the wrist, it was commonly attached to various other pieces of equipment (zipper, straps, etc.).Made of black bakelite, and leather, this wrist compass is in EXCELLENT unused condition! It retains 98% of the original paint and finish, with only slight marks and scratches! 100% FUNCTIONAL, it features 360 degree markings on the face, and points magnetic North! The bottom is clearly marked, 'AK39', and the Fl. label indicates Fl. 23235.Has a small air bubble in the top, which is normal. The RARE feature is that it comes with the original SECONDARY strap that extends the length of the strap, in order to fit comfortably over a heavy flight suit (normally, these are missing). Would make for a PERFECT addition to anycollection or display!
