Description
You are bidding on a VERY NICE, example of a WW1 Imperial German Army 7.7cm (77x230mm) Field Artillery Shell Casing! This was used in the famous Feldkanone 16 (FK 16), which was the standard German field gun of the First World War.The 7.7 cm Feldkanone 16 (7.7 cm FK 16) was a field gun used by Germany in World War I. Most surviving examples in German service were rebarreled after the war as the 7.5 cm FK 16 nA (neuer Art, meaning 'new model'). A total of 298 guns of the old type were still in German army service in 1939, making it the oldest field artillery piece in German inventory at the beginning of the Second World War.Made of brass, this item remains in EXCELLENT condition! Some slight marks and wear, due to the age, but nothing that detracts. It retainsa CLEAN, LEGIBLE HEADSTAMP, including the correct 67% copper brass alloy marking and German wartime inspection and manufacturer codes. It is a textbook example of a German artillery casing, correctly distinguished from French 75mm or Allied types. This casing is correctly dated OKT. 1917, placing production during the height of late-war artillery operations on the Western Front. Overall condition is VERY GOOD, with solid structure, strong stamping, and excellent display presence. A great representative piece of Imperial German WWI artillery history, suitable for any advanced militaria, ordnance, or First World War collection.
