A VERY EARLY EXAMPLE OF A FIRE OFFICERS SHORT SAWBACK PARADE BAYONET.

Available
£385.00

Description

Perhaps one of the earliest examples as it carries the very small oval Eickhorn trademark, the type used on SA Rohm daggers. So this dates it to around 1933/34 ish. A very heavy and solid sidearm as the hilt is solid steel. Nice chequered grips. An early much wider S shaped crossguard. Original black frog and original black paint to the scabbard.Blade is the short carbine type with a false edge. The top edge of the blade has the row of v sharp saw teeth. Hence the name saw-back.blade has some light wear to the surfaces with some dark spotting here and there. A hard variation to find and it seems these short versions were carried by NCO's and Officers. The long ones carried by everyone else. The sale of Knives and other Edged Weapons are restricted to those aged over 18. Verification of age is required before purchase is concluded.'
