This is an original German WWIIMaskenbrille, the special spectacles designed to be worn inside a gas mask by soldiers who required corrective lenses. These were an important personal item, allowing the wearer to maintain proper vision while using the standard issue German gas mask.The Maskenbrille features the correct round metal frames connected by a curved bridge, with original elastic textile straps intended to secure the frames inside the gas mask. The frames and straps show honest wartime wear and natural aging but remain structurally sound. One glass lens is present, while the second lens is missing. This is clearly reflected in the photographs and should be noted for completeness. Despite the missing lens, the set remains a very collectible and display-worthy original example.The Maskenbrille comes with its original metal storage case.
