Description
Textbook Belgian M1915 Adrian steel helmet, worn during World War One, including use by the Belgian Rijkswacht (Gendarmerie). During WW1, the Rijkswacht was militarised and deployed alongside regular army units, making wartime use of this helmet fully correct. Originally issued in the typical Belgian mustard green paint, this helmet was already worn during WW1 and later continued in service, when it was overpainted black for extended Rijkswacht use in the post-war period. The visible wear and patina clearly reflect long-term service. The helmet is complete with its original leather liner and full-length chin strap. The liner remains intact with all leather tongues present and retains its original tightening cord. The chin strap is original and still attached. Inside the shell, a possible stamped number or marking is visible (Stamnummer?), consistent with Belgian-issued Adrian helmets, though partially difficult to read. A highly attractive and historically interesting example of a WW1-used Belgian M1915 Adrian helmet, showing continuous service from wartime use through Rijkswacht duty.
