Description
The Ike jacket has screw back 'U.S.' and Army Air Force disks on the collar. The sleeves bear the rank chevrons of an Army Air Force Sergeant. The shoulder of the left sleeve displays the insignia of the 8th Air Force, while the lower left sleeve has six overseas service chevrons as well as a single enlistment chevron. On the upper left breast is pinned an 8th Air Force pin. The upper right breast has the ribbon for the Presidential Unit Citation with oak leaf cluster below the 'Ruptured Duck' honorable discharge insignia. The interior pocket retains the Quartrmaster Depot tag, with a stated size of 38 Regular. Tucked into the interior pocket was a slip of paper attributing the jacket to 'Thomas Grogan'. This would have been Thomas P. Grogan of New Jersey, service number 32385589, who was born in 1906 and who enlisted on June 22, 1942. The last four numbers of Grogan's service number are written in ink inside of the jacket. Overall the jacket is quite clean and in very good condition.
