Description
Original Second World War permit and control document, issued by the 1st Polish Field Security Section in cooperation with the Municipality of Oudenbosch, dated 27 January 1945, during the final phase of the liberation of the Netherlands. This remarkable document concerns a travel and transport permit granted to Cornelis Franciscus Bakker, born 4 December 1914 in Amsterdam, residing at Vughtstraat 2, Roosendaal. The permit authorized travel during the period 27 January to 3 February 1945 from the municipality of Oudenbosch to Klundert and Nieuw-Vossemeer, among other purposes explicitly stated in the text, including the transport of potatoes. The document was inspected and approved by the 1st Polish Field Security Section, part of the Polish military units that were responsible for maintaining order, security and civil affairs in West Brabant following liberation. The document is richly adorned with multiple stamps, including those of the Municipality of Oudenbosch, the Polish Field Security Section, and an Allied military stamp (18 CDN ARMD C REGT), as well as handwritten notes and signatures. This combination clearly illustrates the transition period between occupation and liberation and highlights the role of Polish and Allied forces in local governance.A historical regional collector's item offering a rare insight into military control, civil permit issuance and everyday life in Oudenbosch, Roosendaal and West Brabant in January 1945, shortly before the end of the Second World War.Article number: 17989
