You are bidding on a SUPERB example of a 100% original WW2 German Luftwaffeautographed photo of OberleutnantFranz Stigler!Ludwig Franz Stigler (21 August 1915 – 22 March 2008) was a German fighter pilot and fighter ace in World War II.He is best known for his role in a December 1943 incident in which he spared the crew of a severely damaged B-17 bomber. He escorted the plane to safety over enemy lines. The story was kept secret for many years, but in 1990 the two pilots finally reunited and were close friends until their deaths in 2008. Stigler died in Canada, where he moved after the war.He was a German World War II fighter ace with JG27 and JV44, flying the Me109 and Me262, and served in the Luftwaffe from 1939 until the end of the war. He is credited with 28 confirmed kills (plus 30 probables), and has flown next to Adolf Galland and Edu Neumann as a wingman. In his early war years, he trained such pilots as Gerhard Barkhorn, and almost failed him as he was such a poor pilot.Made of photo paper, this postcard photo is in EXCELLENT condition! Featuring a photographic image ofFranz Stigler,it is signed in felt pen. Some marks and wear due to the age, but nothing that detracts. 100% original, it wouldlook EXCELLENT framed! Probably signed in the early 2000s. Measures approx. 3″ x 5″ in size. A PERFECT addition to any collection or display!
