Description
The crosswas an unofficial award available to members of the 11th Army for service during the campaign in Greece and Yugoslavia in 1940-1941. The cross is black enamel with toned gilt edges and it features the arms of the House of Savoy and the double-headed Albanian eagle at its center. It is inscribed with '11A ARMATA' (11th Army). The medal was recognized on April 15, 1943. The reverse bears the inscription 'VEEMENZA E TENACIA / 16 NOVEMBRE 1940 XIX' (Vehemence and Tenacity / November 16, 1940). The cross shows some minor chips and scratches to the black enamel.
