Named WWI Army Air Service Tunic with Italian Wing – Served With Italian Squadriglia 6a (XI)

Available
$1950.00 β€”

Description

The olive wool tunic is tailored in a high quality olive wool gabardine, with an intact tailor label and an interior tag bearing the name of 'Lt. J.W. Blackman'. The upper left breast exhibits a bullion U.S. Army aviator wing, while the collar displays 'U.S.' and Army Air Service officer collar insignia. On the upper left sleeve is the bullion Model 1912 pilot wing of the Italian Military Aviation Corps. There is some separation of the lining from the tunic on the top collar edge, and there is a very small hole above one of the front buttonholes, but otherwise the tunic is in exceptionally clean condition and it makes a very fine appearance. Jay W. Blackman served with the Italian Squadriglia 6a (XI), Caproni Bombing Squadron from Aug 16, 1918 to October 20, 1918.
