German Red Cross Cross of Honour 2nd Class for Women (Ehrenzeichen vom Deutschen Roten 2. Klasse), 1937-1939. The 1937-1939 DRK awards recognized loyal service in the DRK. On 1 May 1939, Hitler introduced a series of four Social Welfare awards to replace the earlier DRK (Deutsche Rotes Kreuz) awards. All enamel of the cross is intact and showing only minimal traces of usage, the details on the piece are really pronounced and stunning. The cross is period mounted on a ribbon for women, complete with safety-pin to the reverse. The cross is complete with matching miniature cross, the set is stored in their original red coloured case as found together. The set is not visible maker marked. Stunning and extremely rare original set in very good condition!
