Description
WH (Heer) Generalmajor's Greatcoat (Tuchmantel). The Greatcoat belonged to the standard equipment of every soldier. The greatcoat could be worn in cold weather or rain and all other conceivable situations. This is a field-grey woolen construction privately purchased General's type greatcoat having a dark green collar and bright red lapel facings indicative of General officer rank, it has two rows of six gold coloured front closure buttons. One button is missing. This is an early General's greatcoat. The greatcoat is complete with a pair of General's type shoulder-boards of the sew-in type indicating the rank of 'Generalmajor', the stitching of the sew-in part came loose. The greatcoat is fully lined in luxury rayon. The greatcoat is complete with internal dagger-hangers, the metal clip is nicely 'DRGM' marked and showing the 'A' logo of the company of 'F.W. Assmann & Söhne' from Lüdenscheid. The greatcoat is not visible maker marked or dated. The greatcoat was found in an attic and is unfortunately in heavily (moth)damaged condition, see photos. I decided to leave it in uncleaned condition as found so the buyer can decide if he wants to keep it as a true relic or wants to restore it. Still a hard to find original Wehrmacht General's greatcoat for a fair price!
