Description

A scarce original and totally 'untouched' pair of the so-called 'slim' Kriegsmarine Zeiss 'blc' 8x60 binoculars - for deck mounting and commonly seen in use by U-Boat commanders alike!A wonderful pair which have clearly 'been there', exhibiting relatively minor wear to the textured outer coating, yet still remain in great overall condition and even come fitted with the original polarising glare filters, as shown. The optics, aside from some relatively minor internal debris / striations - as is commonly seen on the reticule plate within the right-hand side (not on the lenses themselves) - still produce a very sharp image that is a pleasure to use and rates well for a binocular which has never been opened up or messed with since it left the factory!Original early blue/purple coatings remain to all lenses. As mentioned, the internal reticule (vertical aiming line) which also enabled this pair to be used on a deck mount, for aiming purposes when surfaced, is also still intact inside.Clearly captured and having fallen into British hands at some stage - they remain fitted with the British canvas neck strap, exactly as they were found.A pair which would make the perfect addition to any KM / U-Boat or related optics collection, as well as comprising an item which can still be put to use today!
