Description

A very rare original, 'as found' example of the iconicKriegsmarineissue pocket watch; produced by the still world-renowned Swiss watchmaker I.W.C. (International Watch Co., Schaffhausen, Switzerland).A variant associated with issue specifically to U-boat crews as a deck watch - it packs the highly regarded Calibre 67 / 15 jewel movement inside, and was manufactured with a luminous (zinc sulphate) coated dial to enable it to be legible within such darkened spaces. Incredibly, this feature still functions as it should. This particular example still remains fully functional at the time of cataloguing, with all of the original fine blued steel hands intact. To the reverse of the case, the clear remains of the large KMReichsadlereagle and property markings are intact. Thankfully not fully eradicated, as most have been, and the watch also still retains the Kriegsmarine 'KM' text designation to the front dial!Overall, a super honest example of its type, as well as an incredible piece of Swiss timepiece engineering, which still functions in all of its numerous ways to this day!
