Description
German WWI Combat Dog Tag-This is a very cool early dog tag. It measures 2 ¾ inches (7cm) long. Dog tags were a little bit larger during WW1. This soldier was in the 2ndcompany combat unit, battalion 9. He is blood type A. This comes with the original string tie, these don't usually survive. It is a nice addition. This dog tag is the split design, so this would be made in 1916 or later. With this later model, the tag features a perforated line across the middle, allowing it to be broken into two halves. If a soldier was killed, one half remained with the body for later identification, while the other half was collected by the unit to record the casualty. This is in very good condition.
