Description
Original period manufacture. A nice example of one of the many patterns of fighting knives produced for the French forces during WWI. Simple wooden grip with a sheet brass guard and a cut-down socket bayonet blade. Threaded tang with a brass securing nut. Simple sheet steel sheath with a ball tip and two rectangular openings cut into the throat for a leather belt loop which is now missing. At the time of our purchase the scabbard was inside this US messkit utensil sheath with rather blurred handwritten dedication and date of 1915-1918. Normal age and wear.
