Spectacular German WWII Officer'sPolice Sword by Richard Herder-Outstanding example by a scarcely seen maker. The nickel silver plating on the pommel and crossguard are a full 98% intact. The black ribbed wooden handle along with the bronze two-piece police eagle in the grip are both excellent. The toned wire grip wrap has toned and looks great with the toned eagle. The brown leather buffer is in place under the crossguard. The untouched scabbard retains the majority of its black enameled paint which remains a full 90% in place. The fittings on the scabbard are excellent. This is the most desirable of all the makers of police swords, as it has an SS runic proof on the blade. Above the runes is a large number 5, which could indicate the rack number where this was stored. Below the runes is the maker's name, Herder. This sword measures approx. 38 inches (96.52cm) in length, with a blade that measures 31 inches (78.74cm) long. This is an excellent offering.Online checkout is not supported for edged weapons.
