Description
US Civil War Issue Model 1840 NCO Sword by Emerson & Silver-In 1840 the US Army adopted sword for NCOs. These were different from earlier models in a variety of ways. The NCO sword model 1840 displayed a graceful appearance with a grip ribbed in imitation of wire wrapping. This non-commissioned officer's sword was made by Emerson & Silver of Trenton NJ. This example does not have its scabbard, which is excellent. The finish is nicely toned, as are the brass fittings. The sword measures approx. 39 inches (99.06cm) overall, and has an all-brass hilt, with a 'double scallop' cross guard, and a 'D' hand guard enclosing the knurled hand grip. The blade is marked with the makers name and U.S. D.F.M.1862. Overall, excellent.Online checkout is not supported for edged weapons.
