Description

Original period manufacture. Olive wool four pocket service coat with a stand and fall collar. The four exterior pockets have side gussets to allow for better use for the soldier. Full set of darkened bronze rimless eagle buttons throughout, Pointed cuff trim on each sleeve end. Full body lining similar to that found in a WWI era service coat. Original 1908 contract tag sewn into the coat lining. Matched pair of collector added original darkened brass Infantry collar emblems, 14 over G, 14th Infantry Rgt, Company G. The coat is clean, about a size 36. There is an 8x6 mm moth hole above the right pocket and a 15x5 mm hole next to the lower left pocket. In 1905 the active duty strength of the US Army was around 67,000 men, down from around 200,000 in 1898.
