Japanese Model 1886 Cavalry Sword with Matching Numbers

The sword has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 37 inches, with a blade length of approximately 30-1/2 inches. The blade is quite bright, showing typical spots and scratches, but making a generally excellent appearance. The ricasso is marked with the number '117242', with that same number being present on the scabbard drag. the guard, back strap, and pommel all retain much of the original finish, with some wear to the top of the guard. The wooden grip is toned with age but it is without damage. The scabbard exhibits wear to the finish, with some surface rust. Overall the sword is in very good field used condition.
