Description

Wehrmacht (Heer) M40 No Decal Combat Helmet (Stahlhelm M40). The stamped sheet steel construction M40 helmet retains most of its rough textured, field-grey paint. The paint shows normal wear and scratches caused by usage and some minor surface rust, see photos. All three liner retaining rivets are intact. The interior of the helmet is a M31 leather liner in partly damaged condition, the leather is a bit dry, see photos for details. The shell is marked with maker and size 'Q66'. 'Q' is indicating production by the 'F.W. Quist, G.m.b.H.' in Esslingen. The reverse interior neck guard apron has a stamped lot-number 'DN411'. The Quist company kept producing the M40 helmet shell right up till late in 1944 whilst the other companies all adopted the M42 model. This helmet was made for all the branches just like the M42 helmet without decal. The helmet is in original untouched and uncleaned condition as recently found in the United States, this helmet was brought back as a souvernir from the war by a US soldier. Nice and honest original late war M40 combat helmet in good used condition!
