Description

You are bidding on a VERY NICE example of a veteran acquired WW2 Imperial Japanese Army EM/NCO Canteen and Carrier! Comes complete with the RARE insuralted cover, for use in cold weather climates. The Japanese Army Canteen differed from the Navy version, as it featured apainted body and wood/cork stopper (Navy version featured an unpainted aluminum body and aluminum cap). Officers and enlisted men carried the same type. Kanji numbers and names are sometimes found written on the outer canvas covers.TThe cold-weather variant outer cover lined with insulating fur material were intended for use in colder climates and late-war campaigns and were produced in far smaller quantities than standard cloth covers.Issued to troops of the Imperial Japanese Army, this canteen is in VERY NICE condition for its age. Though it features some slight wear and marks, there is no corrosion or damage! No damage to the carrier straps, however the leather is a bit dry (also features some slight rust staining). Original cap is also still present! The RARE feature is that is comes complete with the ORIGINAL Cold Weather insulated cover! Cover has a prominent manufacture stamp, and is dated Showa 17 (1942), placing it firmly in the mid-war period. Surviving examples with the correct winter cover remain scarce, particularly those retaining clear markings.Would make a PERFECT addition to any collection or display!
