Cased KVK 1st Class 'L/11'

War Merit Cross 1st Class with Swords (Kriegsverdienstkreuz 1. Klasse mit Schwerter). The 'Kriegsverdienstkreuz' was instituted on 18 October 1939. The basic criteria for award centered about bravery and service (not in connection with combat). The cross is a nice tombak (Buntmetall) example, complete with a functional pin & catch. The cross still retains most of its original silver finish and shows polished highlights, it shows a slightly darkened age patina. The cross is nicely maker marked with number 'L/11' indicating production by the company of 'Wilhelm Deumer' from Lüdenscheid. The cross comes in its original black coloured case having a neat silver-coloured 'KvK'-logo imprinted on the top. The closure button is not working correctly but this is not visible in display. Desirable original set in very good condition!
