USA 250th Brigade Battalion Unit Distinctive Badge by W&H Co

A good original 1939 - 1945 wartime period 'United States Army Distinctive Class A uniform collar badge' gilt metal example in the form of a shield inlaid with yellow enamel surmounted by a Heraldic 'Lion's Head' on torse, depicting a wheel to centre with three part scroll below 'Judicium Initium Vis' (Judgement is the Beginning of Strength); the reverse impressed with maker's details 'W&H Co' (Whitehead & Hoag Co). Very good condition, no stress marks or enamel loss, complete with inner screw fitting with two spikes, no outer nut present.Height approx 34mm.
