WW1 DCM & 1914 MONS STAR & BAR TRIO, 53rd BTY, 2nd BDE R.F.A FROM BURSLEM

GVR WW1 1st type Distinguished Conduct Medal & 1914 star trio with original August to November 1914 claspTo- 66866.SJT.W.BAMFORD.53rd.BTY.2/BDE.R.F.A& 66866.GNR/SJT.W.BAMFORD.R.F.A / R.AWilliam Bamford from Burslem, Staffs first landed in France 11-9-1914 serving with the 2nd brigade of the Royal Field Artillery & the award of his August to November 1914 clasp is confirmed on his MIC. He was awarded the DCM in the London gazette 3-9-1918 with the following citation.For conspicuous gallantry & devotion to duty while with two forward guns of his battery during an enemy attack. When one gun was destroyed and the detachment killed, he fought the other, eventually in the open, till every round of ammunition was expended. He then destroyed the gun and withdrew the detachment. He put up a splendid fight.He was discharged 5-3-1919 and went home to live at 9 Lucas street, Burslem, Staffs & applied for the issue of his 1914 clasp & roses in February 1939.GVF or better & swing mounted as worn. With the ribbon for the 1914 star reversed & with a small M.I.D oakleaf that is unconfirmed. Complete with MIC & London gazette details
